28.–29. oktoober, Nordic Hotel Forum, Viru väljak 3, Tallinn

Korraldajad: Eesti Rahvusringhääling | SA Archimedes | Eesti Teadusajakirjanike Selts

  • Kuidas jagada teadusrikkust enamate inimeste, eriti noortega?
  • Kuidas suurendada teaduse atraktiivsust?
  • Kuidas tagada teaduskajastuse hea kvaliteet?
Lühiettekanded on kavandatud konverentsi mõlemale päevale, kokku 8 ettekannet. Iga ettekande jaoks on planeeritud 15 minutit, millest ettekande aeg on 7 minutit, ülejäänud aeg jääb aruteluks.
Ootame sooviavaldusi (ettekande pealkiri, kokkuvõtlik ettekande sisututvustus ja lühike enesetutvustus) 10-30. septembrini meiliaadressile priit.ennet@err.ee
Eelistatud on kiirelt laekunud pakkumised!
Julget osalemist!

THE SHALE GAS REVOLUTION • OCTOBER 21 – 22, 2010

The game-changing potential of shale is the hottest topic in U.S. and global energy markets in decades.  A vast new energy resource has been unlocked – as much as total Saudi Arabian oil production over the past twenty years, in energy-equivalent terms, but sitting right in our own backyard.  If this resource is fully utilized, total U.S. production of natural gas can be increased by 50% over the next five to seven years at costs well below conventional natural gas – and at less than half of current oil prices.

In this intensive one-and-a-half-day program, Andy Weissman will address in detail:
  • Why production of natural gas from shale has suddenly soared
  • Whether this growth is sustainable and how it will affect electricity and natural gas prices
  • The controversy regarding hydraulic fracturing
  • Whether drilling will be cut back, potential impacts of rig-count reductions and reasons why E&P companies are stampeding towards liquid-rich shales
  • Sweeping implications for coal use; wind, solar, and nuclear power; energy efficiency; and development of the Smart Grid and other clean energy technologies
  • Impacts on investments in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), underground storage, oil-sands development and deepwater drilling after the Macondo blow-out in the Gulf of Mexico
  • New opportunities for U.S. manufacturers to gain a major competitive advantage in global markets
  • Far-reaching implications for climate change and continued use of existing coal-fired units
  • Most likely winners and losers in the E&P and manufacturing industries
  • Risks and potential profits for hedge funds, energy traders, institutional investors, bankers, independent power producers, electric utilities and competitive retail electricity and natural gas suppliers.
The sudden emergence of this transformational resource is permanently changing American natural gas, electricity, and coal markets. It has sweeping implications for U.S. energy and environmental policy, renewable energy, and every sector of the economy.
In this special half-day workshop, Andy Weissman will discuss his unique understanding of essential market drivers, including:
  • Key determinants of natural gas and electricity prices in the U.S. market
  • Critical role of weather-sensitive demand and natural gas storage
  • Primary causes of price spikes during the past decade and major shifts in the forward delivery price curve
  • Core price drivers in 2010 and beyond
  • Causes of recent price declines
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Every large natural gas or electricity user, producer, investor, trader, policy maker, financial advisor, lawyer, accountant, and energy consultant must thoroughly understand the sweeping implications of this critical resource for U.S., Canadian and global energy markets
ABOUT ANDY WEISSMAN
During the past decade, Andy Weissmans ability to accurately predict major energy market price trends has been unparalleled in both up and down markets. He is a nationally recognized expert on the natural gas, oil, electricity and coal markets; commodities trading and pricing; electric utility industry restructuring; regulatory policy; Clean Air Act issues; power supply planning and the emerging technologies needed to provide alternative sources of energy.
Andy is an honors graduate of Harvard Law School and member of the District of Columbia and U.S. Supreme Court Bars. He is a partner in Carter Ledyard & Milburn, L.L.P., and Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Energy Business Watch, the premier energy advisory service.

The worldwide pilot scale development of the CO2 capture technologies for coal-fired power plants is promising for commercial scale application. However challenges remain with respect to the technologies, transport, sequestration, standards & regulations, public education & acceptance, risk & liabilities and most importantly perhaps the economics. This Webinar provides a unique opportunity for sharing the experience and vision of the US Department of Energy, power industry and environmental law firm professionals about the complex and disparate issues of commercialization of CCS.

Marmomacc 2010

Marmomacc 2010

Now at its 45th edition, the International Exhibition of Natural Stone, Design and Technologies scheduled Wednesday 29 September - Saturday 2 October 2010 (with the abolition of Sunday and opening on Wednesday to meet the needs of professional in the sector) once again ranks as the leading event in sustaining the marble system on the world market in order to promote development of products and technologies and become an increasingly qualified cultural workshop for world-wide trends in stone construction and design.
Marmomacc is the essential appointment for operators in the stone industry, from machinery to instrumental products, from blocks to more complex processing, for professionals in construction and contract sectors as well as designers and decision makers seeking success in an increasingly specialised and competitive context.
Thanks to an integrated system of services combining the quality of the exhibition offering and professional visitors, contacts and penetration on outlet markets, attendance by numerous and qualified delegations of international buyers with match-making initiatives, presentation of studies, research, conventions, commercial and cultural initiatives to analyse the market and the main topics in the sector at the service of companies, Marmomacc is the most important international event in 2010 dedicated to sector companies.
A major showcase highlighting the best production traditions and innovation on a national and international scale, international projects, with many initiatives promoting the special features and wealth of natural stone and the expressive potential of stone materials in architecture and design.
This edition of the show equally pursues its promotion of continual training, technical seminars and programmes for architects. Design and technology come together at Marmomacc - by now increasingly a fundamental meeting place for better understanding of current evolution and trends in stone and design sectors.
